The Grotto

I love hiking! Well, as long as it is a short ways and has something pretty to see.

So, I guess I should say…. I love hiking! 🙂

This last weekend, we had the opportunity to hike to the Grotto in Payson Canyon. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out! It’s a very short hike within Payson Canyon, that ends at a beautiful ~20 foot high waterfall.

I like going in May because the road up the canyon is still closed, so one has to hike an extra distance up the road to it. If your family has younger children, I would suggest going once the road opens, so that the kids only have to hike the 1/2 mile from the trailhead. That is usually about the end of May. If you have an older family, you can go now and enjoy the extra scenery that you wouldn’t be able to see in a car.

A warning though: The water is HIGH this year! You probably aren’t surprised though, with all the flood warnings going on. I’m just sayin’. 🙂
