We went on board Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas and we’ve got the lowdown on our favorite excursions.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Excursions
This was my very first cruise, so I was excited to find out what the Royal Caribbean cruise excursions were all about! Our first port on the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas was gorgeous Labadee, Haiti. We started our day of cruise excursions with a Dreamworks Photo Safari leading us off the boat, to a splash park right on the beach, which the little ones enjoyed. We spent the rest of our time in Haiti enjoying the Arawak Aqua Park, jumping and sliding into the crystal clear waters of Labadee. We had some time to rest-up on the beach before we headed to our next Royal Caribbean excursion, the Dragons Breath Flight Line, which is the longest over-ocean zipline in the world! They had a lot of kid-friendly excursion options in Labadee, but the zipline was reserved for 80 lbs or over (*weight limit varies based on weather conditions), so it was a better fit for the older kids. They set us securely in a hammock-type chair harness and sent us on a practice line first where we mastered soaring and landing, and then we headed up the mountain for the real deal. The view from the zipline was absolutely breathtaking. The exhilarating experience of flying over the ocean is something I’ll never forget!
Our next port was Falmouth, Jamaica. Our excursion for this port was an exciting Jungle Tubing Adventure, followed by some time to relax at Reggae Hill. We took a bus ride through Jamaica to the Dunns River where we rafted in inner tubes down the gorgeous river. It was like floating through the jungle in clear waters, with green trees all around. We ended our rafting at Reggae Hill where we ate traditional Jamaican topas in private cabanas, and enjoyed Jamaican cultural dancing, music, and history. I loved learning about the general attitude among the Jamaican culture, the laid back, easy going nature of all the people there was inspiring. The views were gorgeous, and the food was interesting – but delicious! We shopped the craft market filled with beaded jewelry, wooden carvings, and various other treasures. We loved Jamaica!
Our final port was in the stunningly beautiful Cozumel, Mexico. The second we arrived, I knew we were in for a good time. We took a short taxi to Sting Ray Beach for our first excursion, where we enjoyed a Chocolate and Pinata Seaside Workshop. Initially, I had no idea what to expect from this excursion, but it was probably the most fun we had on our trip. We sat in this darling classroom with ceiling to floor windows and gorgeous beach views. We learned all about the history of pinatas and chocolate, and were able to make our own chocolate bars from raw cocoa beans! We taste-tested the most delicious chocolate and learned exactly how they should be eaten (who knew there was a wrong way to eat chocolate?). We made our own mini traditional pinatas to take home, and then celebrated the end of our class with hitting the pinata right on the beach. It was so interesting, and so delish! We came home loaded with Mexican chocolate and candy from the pinata.
After our Chocolate and Pinata class, and for our final Royal Caribbean cruise excursion, we spent some much needed time to relax and play at the beautiful Beach Break at Playa Mia. I could have stayed for an entire week! We enjoyed the all-inclusive buffet of yummy Mexican food, unlimited drinks (hello Coca Cola Light), and an endless amount of things to do. Available to us was a water slide, pools, splash park, snorkeling rentals, hair braiding, fish pedicures (eek!), massages, shopping.. You name it! There was something for everyone. This was the perfect way to end our cruise excursions, because we could split up and do exactly what we wanted – which is what vacation is all about, right?? The water was the clearest water I’ve ever seen, the white beaches were a beautiful contrast. Cozumel is so vibrant and colorful and everyone we encountered was happy and kind. It is hard to pick favorites of all the amazing places we visited, but Cozumel was definitely a top contender!
All-in-all, we had the most wonderful time, and the most fantastic, unique experiences throughout our travels. We fell in love with each gorgeous destination we visited and felt immersed in their cultures while we were there. Our entire trip was like a never-ending dream. We can’t wait to go again – this time with the whole family!
The Royal Caribbean cruise excursions were a highlight, but the sea days were just as magical!
