Oasis Cruise Review

I’ve finally got my pictures off my camera and am so excited to share some of the highlights from the last half of the cruise.

Land Ho!

I’ve finally got my pictures off my camera and am so excited to share some of the highlights from the last half of the cruise. (Tip: taking your video card and putting it in your camera for photos works, but it makes things complicated to upload to your computer. Just pay the $12 and get a new 2MB card for heaven sakes!)

If you missed my first post, here is a roundup of the first half.

In the meantime, I here is our official Oasis Cruise Review:

GETTING OFF THE SHIP!

St. Thomas

Back on the “Tug Boat” Again

The Kids Program (saved our bacon!)

For the most part, our family watches our kids. So I didn’t think that I’d take advantage of the kids program “Adventure Ocean” on board. Until of course they started fighting and we needed a distraction. From that point on, this place was their favorite. My hubby and I even got to have a few dinners on our own – glorious!

What I loved the most though, is that all of the staff have degrees in child development or a similar field. The facility is a nut free, dairy free, egg free zone (took special note as we have a kid with wild allergies). They take kids 6 months and up and have completely different zones for each age group. And of course I loved their security process. I felt totally safe having my kids in the program.

St. Maartin

And ON AGAIN!

But seriously, still so much to do:

Bahamas

We spent the day cruising through Atlantis, a huge family resort and then we headed to Cabbage Beach. It had a bit more surf and the kids got crunched a few times, but they loved it (and I loved snapping the photos of the wipeouts).

ON AGAIN: The Towel Animals

This post would not be complete without a feature on the thing that excited us most every night . . . to see what kind of animal would be on our beds!

GOING HOME

Word to the wise – it’s hard work getting off the ship and you rise at the crack of dawn! You end up feeling like this:

And with that came a long day of travel delays. So we resorted to getting our energy out at the airport with yoga contests:

Would I do it all again? Definitely. For me, this is one of the best ways to take a young family on a seemingly exotic, well managed, relaxing vacation.

The only thing I spent money on once on the ship was a new photo card ($12) tips, and our taxi rides once we were on the islands.

What would I do differently? I’d avoid this interaction:

“Mommy! Is that another baby growing in your belly?”
“No sweetie, that’s mommy’s food baby.”

Curse you, unlimited, wonderful cruise food. CURSE YOU!

A BIG THANK YOU!

A huge THANK YOU to Royal Caribbean and their staff for having us along and for being amazing to work with and creating an amazing experience. Thanks to Kodak for helping out with their M530 Easy Share. I have literally captured the last year of our life on my iPhone. I’m amazed at what this little camera does and it’s a simple point and shoot. And finally another thanks to DownEast Basics for hooking some of the ladies and I up with some “cruise wear” and not the bedazzled leopard print kind! We’ll be giving away some of those outfits soon – so check back for updates!
