Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts Under $20

Gifts under or around $20 can be hard to find, but here are a few great ideas that will please your giftee AND your wallet.

Finding great gifts under $20 can be hard to pull together. You don’t want to just give someone a Starbucks card and call it a day. Picking out something personal and special is easy if you know where to look. Here are a few ideas I like for gifts that are around $20.

Sea Urchin Hanging Planters

I’m kind of obsessed with these planters made from sea urchin shells that you can hang. The set comes with everything you need–including the plant–for $14.

Author Library Candles

I’m not a big candle person, but I fell in love with these library travel tin candles starting at $8. Featuring authors like Mark Twain (tobacco flower, vanilla,) Leo Tolstoy (black plum, persimmon, oak moss,) Jane Austen (gardenia, tuberose, jasmine,) they’re complex scents that are way beyond some overly sweet floral. I picked up the Edgar Allen Poe (cardamom, absinthe, and sandalwood,) for myself.

Hyperbole and a Half

Allie Brosh has taken the internet by storm, but it’s time to step up your admiration of her work by gifting someone her new book, titled, just like her blog, Hyperbole and a Half.

Tiny Gold Bar Necklace

There’s something delicate yet strong about this modern necklace from Devin Michaels. Since it’s gold plated, it comes in at just $17.50. The gold bar makes a statement, but it’s also available in silver.

A Lyrics Print from Colorbee

Whether you share a special song with someone or you truly believe, as I do, that if your friends don’t dance they’re no friends of mine, I think these great prints from Colorbee (starting around $15) are perfect.

Glitter Star Headband

An understated headband for your favorite shining star. I love the idea of gifting this one early so your star can use it for holiday parties or special occasions. Sweet, but not twee. $15.

Help! I Have a Problem Kits

Sometimes I love a practical present that can solve a problem. These adorable kits (Help! I have nausea, Help! I have a blister, etc.) contain ibuprofen tablets, and even bandages. At $22, you could dig up two more dollars in the couch cushions for this present.

Scripted Monogram Bracelets

I love these elegant gold-plated brass bracelets that give you a customized gift for only $22. Accented by a tiny stone they’re just a lovely way to tell someone you’re thinking of them.

A Mosaic Serving Platter

If your giftee likes to entertain, or just set a fun table, check out this mosaic serving platter. At only $18, you could spring for a matching set. Perfect for cupcakes, a composed salad, or serving appetizers.

Sea Salt Body Wash

Sometimes finding clean-smelling washes and soaps can be a challenge; I don’t necessarily want to smell like a fruit salad. But what really made me love this, besides the fresh scent, is that this is the same body wash that Disney stocks at their Aulani resort in Hawaii. It’s that good. $17.

Cliffs of Insanity or a LoTR Shire-Scented Soy Candle

I know I already did a candle, but something about these handmade soy candles from Frostbeard tickle my fancy. Whether he’s drawing inspiration from The Princess Bride (Cliffs of Insanity with sea and teakwood notes) or the Shire (oakmoss, clover, aloe and sweet cherry pipe) you’ll find something for the book or movie nerd in your life.

Two Hands iPad Holder

I like this Two Hands iPad holder for the kitchen. If you only use your iPad in the kitchen sometimes, and don’t want to have a stand that you leave out, grab this Two Hands holder that will fit into your silverware drawer when you’re not using it. Only $19.99 and available in different colors.
