St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and Phoenix will be celebrating this year at the 31stAnnual Parade and Faire. Mark your calendars for this fun event happening on Saturday, March 15, 2014 starting at 10:00 am. Bring a chair and come early to get a good spot.

The Phoenix St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been a tradition since 1984. It aims to preserve and share Irish culture and traditions in Arizona. The 2014 theme is “Arizona Irish: Honor Our Heroes.” The parade will feature Irish step dancers, bagpipers, marching bands, floats, police and fire vehicles, government dignitaries, the 2014 Arizona Irish Colleen / Arizona Rose with her Court, and much more. This year’s Grand Marshall is Ron Hoon, morning anchorman on Fox 10. The Irish Persons of the Year are Emerald Policeman Matt Shay and Emerald Firefighter John McMorrow.

If you want to make your little leprechaun a cute hat to wear before heading to the parade and faire, checkout this easy tutorial. As for me, I don’t need to make a hat. I’ll be (one of many) wearing a bright green wig I purchased from Target. See you there!
