Homeschool Has Us All Crying, Even Drew Barrymore

Not even celebrities are exempt from the madness we’re all calling life right now.

“I cried every day, all day long.”

Welcome to the journal entry of every parent-turned-teacher for the entirety of Spring 2020.

Okay, it was actually Drew Barrymore who said it about the transition from regular life to whatever-the-hell-this-is, but we couldn’t agree more.

This parent+teacher+full-time chef+entertainer+doctor+full-time-job-having gig is tough, and apparently celebrities are not exempt.

“I don’t know if there are good days and bad days. I think there are good hours and bad hours,” said Drew.

And she’s right to take it an hour at a time because when you start to the look down the barrel of possible months more of this…well, things get a little shaky. But she also encouraged people to not get too overwhelmed by comparing yourself with the seemingly perfect schedules and structure others may be posting about.

“You find your way. You’re resilient.”

Yes, yes we are. And in the meantime, we’re doing a freaking ton of appreciating our teachers from a distance, because…can you even imagine having 30 of these monsters, all day, every day? Praise them, y’all. Praise them.

And maybe add a little something to cart for those teachers not only keeping your monster alive, but managing to teach it math and history, too. Somehow.

And despite the madness, all we can really do is fight to stay positive right? As Drew put it, “Happiness is a battle you fight every day, and the victory is if you accomplished any of those wins, that is a win.”

Amen, Drew. Amen. Because when it comes down to it, we’re all doing our best and WE.CAN.DO.IT. Whatever the hell “it” is.

And, by the way, shout out to Drew for her contribution for COVID-19 relief with her company Flower Beauty! When we lift each other, we won’t sink!

This is THE moment for all of us to come together. Aligning as beauty brand founders was the common goal of all our contributors—there’s enough room for everybody to work together. Thank you @drewbarrymore for sharing our message on @todayshow. #BeautyUnited
