Perfume by the Season

With the official start of fall upon us, Phoenicians can look forward to morning lows near 75°

Even with afternoon highs hovering around 100°, the dry air will make the heat a bit more bearable. Not quite jeans and jackets weather yet but it’s the right time to make the seasonal switch in your perfume.

Fall fragrances are musky and have light, spicy notes. Think food-inspired scents, such as cinnamon and vanilla. And ladies, these are the right aromas for date night because vanilla and musk are shown to increase relaxation and decrease inhibition.

Wear heavier scents in the winter like musk and spice, and Oriental notes like sandalwood and patchouli. These woodsy scents can give your mood a boost so indulge your olfactory senses and dab on a little more perfume in the cold months. Because more of your skin is covered up, your perfume is less likely to be overpowering.

Spring scents are light, floral and citrusy with leafy green notes. Romantic floral fragrances are appropriate for weddings any time of year. Other spring notes include mint, basil, orange blossom, and almonds.

Sweet scents work well in the summer. Also think nature-inspired fragrances with woodsy notes. Oceanic aromas will make you feel cooler but avoid anything too heavy in summer because the heat intensifies scent.
