Memorial Day Food and Crafts

It’s like a family reunion, and besides fast cars, there tends to be a lot of food.  Fehrmans = Food.

While my father-in-law makes a mean cooler of fried chicken, carrot sticks, cookies, and cheap beer for Race Day, the following ideas are meant for kicking things up a notch when the whole family is chilling at home.

Still, these are simple ideas.  We don’t have time to slave over complicated food while we’re visiting family and attending the race (and then watching the replay on TV later that night.  Don’t ask…).

My MIL is the queen of serving fresh veggies at every meal. This hollowed out cabbage dipping bowl from Eddie Ross adds distinction to the simplest tray of veggie sticks.

My husband may taste this drink and pass it back to me with a sourpuss expression.  Whatever, more for me.

Memorial Day Crafty Activities

Leave it to Tip Junkie to have a great Memorial Day crafting roundup.  My inlaws would love the flag made of grandkids’ handprints and footprints.

I really like this simple wreath posted on Nap Time Crafts.  It looks like something I could even make during the car ride to our Memorial Day festivities!
