Each spring The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch burst into a rainbow of colors  as the Giant Tecolote Ranunculus bloom over 50 acres of land.  Looking for signs of spring in San Diego can be a bit tricky since we have such beautiful weather year-round.  The Flower Fields are Spring itself.  Waves of flowers in a variety of colors cover the landscape and create a feeling of peace and serenity.

In addition to the ranunculus, visit the Artist Garden.  Built around a reflecting pool, this beautiful garden was created by an artist and is very enchanting.  Kids will especially enjoy the Sweet Pea Maze where they try to find their way through the maze of plants and flowers.  Santa’s Playground is also a hit for kids to run around and play.  Guests can also enjoy a tractor ride around the fields and learn some of the history of the fields.  With so much to do here, the whole family can enjoy a visit to the Flower Fields.

Adults are $12 each and children (ages 3 to 10) are $6 each.  The maze is free but the wagon ride is an additional $5 for adults and $3 for children.  Other amenities include picnic areas and restrooms, fresh strawberries for sale, poinsettia display, sluice mining, and rose gardens.

Special events this season include Kids’ Day on March 30 and Mother’s Day Celebration on May 11.  For more events visit the website’s schedule of events. The fields are open from 9 am to 6 pm and are located just off Interstate 5 in Carlsbad.
