Texas Discovery Gardens–great place to visit with kids!
My family went for the first time last summer after we won a family membership in an auction. If you have never been, prepare to be wowed by the gorgeous butterflies in the Butterfly House as well as outside on the 7.5 acres of beautiful grounds.
The Butterfly House leads you down a winding canopy walkway so you get to the butterflies at many levels and interacting with many different plants. My kids loved being able to look down from the walkway, as well as being able to see the chrysalis and newly hatching butterflies display in glass aquarium. They also have scheduled butterfly releases.

One of the best things about visiting the Butterfly House, is the amazing volunteers and workers. On every occasion that we have visited, there has been someone there to answer our questions and point out the little details that we might have missed. One worker spent 10 minutes trying to help my daughter spot an elusive pink and black butterfly, and then tried to explain how caterpillars turn into butterflies to my 3 year old twins! That is well beyond the job description, trust me!
The grounds are beautiful to walk through and offer lots of insect life as well. The Gardens also offer some great events both for members and open to the public. I think the Fancy Nancy Butterfly tea party in June sounds like a lot of fun, but be sure to check all the great upcoming Texas Discovery Gardens Events. It is also a great place to practice your photography…I am in no way any kind of professional photographer, but these are my shots and they came out so good!
