Storybook Ranch in McKinney

One of McKinney’s best kept little secrets is the fun that can be had at Storybook Ranch!

If the name “Storybook Ranch” conjures up mental images of a small ranch with hayrides, an old town village, miles of trails, cowboys and horses. Guess what? You are right! This mini-town looks as if it has leapt out of the pages of a book.

With cooler weather on the horizon, Storybook Ranch can often see as many as 1,000 people walk through their 80 acres during a week. This includes: weddings, receptions, birthday parties, corporate events, fundraisers and much more. The ranch can be rented out for any activity that you have planned, including taking their horses out for trail rides through their 5 miles of trails.

During the summer months, when the weather is not as agreeable, the ranch is still open with its indoor facilities and is host to many different summer camps.

This time of year the ranch gets spooky! Currently from September 22 until October 31, the ranch hosts their Storybook Pumpkin Patch and a night-time Ghost Ranch Haunted Hayride, along with a haunted house.

During the daytime the cost for one child is $15, two children for $25, and three through ten children are $11 each. The parents are free and so are children under two years old. The activities included in the cost of admission are the Hay Maze, a Pony Ride, Petting Zoo, Bounce Houses, 1 mini pumpkin to take home and a family friendly wagon ride through Ghost Ranch. Each child gets one free adult admission on the wagon ride, additional adults are $5 each.

On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays the ranch becomes spook-tacular at night! From sundown until 10:30 pm treat yourself to a Haunted Wagon Ride along with a tour through the local Haunted House! Who wouldn’t love a stroll through an old creepy village for Halloween? The wagon rides are $15 each and the evening pumpkin patch admission is $10 each. Or purchase both for $20 per person. This event will run every night from Thursday, October 24th through Wednesday, October 31st.

This ranch is located at 3701 S. Custer Road, McKinney, TX, 75070. Activities are available year round, weather permitting.

My family will be heading there soon for a Y Guides adventure. The boys and girls will play in the pumkpin patch, jump in the bounce houses, enjoy a picnic, and take the horses out for a 30 minute ride. That’s great family fun! But you’ll definitely see me there later for the Haunted House and Hayride!
