My husband and I recently had the chance to go on an “all-day date” when my parents came into town to visit

hey offered to watch the kids and spoiled us with a day for just the two of us.  After a nice dinner out in Little Italy, we headed to Extraordinary Desserts based on a friend’s recommendation.  We were not disappointed!

When we first walked in, we were met with two beautiful display cases filled with mouth-watering desserts.  We just walked along looking at each amazing dessert.  It was so hard to choose which one to indulge in!  You can order the desserts right there at the front to go.  Or, like we did, you can write down which one you want and then be seated in the main part of the restaurant.

Many of the desserts have beautiful fresh flowers on top. And the desserts are as delicious as they are beautiful.  The service was also great.  For a Monday night, the place was bustling with people, but not overly busy.  The environment is fun and relaxing.  We were fans right away.  In fact, the next evening, we were out with my parents and wanted dessert and just had to go back again! We also tried the hot chocolate that night and it was richly divine.

Extraordinary Desserts serves more than just dessert. They have salads, paninis, and more.  The front of the store also has a large variety of teas and other fun items for purchase. There are two locations – one in Little Italy and one in Balboa Park. You could easily take kids here.  I think any place that is bustling with activity means you don’t have to worry about having noisy kids.  It is nicer than what I usually take my kids to (they are just as happy with Thrifty Ice Cream!), but if I were celebrating something special with one of them, I would take them for a special night out here.  This place is great for a date night and would also be fun for a girls-night-out.  Go indulge for yourself at Extraordinary Desserts!
