National Parks Week: April 22-26

National Parks surround us. Within DC, there are 23 national parks alone

My little National Parks Passport has seen a lot of stamps since moving here.

My grandmother gifted it to me back in 1996 at the Mt. Rainier Visitor Center. When looking at that stamp, I can still remember how excited I was to have my very own book. She would be proud with my progress thus far on filling it up. It’s always fun to put a new one into the book. And I’ve still got a few I’d like to get in the DC area– including some from a few trips I took without the passport.

April 22-26 marks National Parks Week. What does this mean for you? Free admission to every NPS site. It’s never a good idea to pass up free.

While many of the museums and national parks are always free in the DC area, there are a few that aren’t. Here’s a couple I’m hoping to visit this year– perhaps during National Parks Week. Just don’t doubt my love for National Parks when you see that I haven’t been to some of these:

I’ve got a boot on my foot thanks to a broken bone– I’m hoping it will be off before National Parks Week rolls around in order to be able to hit up one or two during the week.
