On Saturday, June 21st, Monument Circle will be transformed into the largest yoga class in Indianapolis. People of all levels are invited to join in as yoga instructors from all over the city join together to lead Monumental Yoga. Various performances begin at 11 a.m. and yoga will start at 12 p.m. You’ll want to get there early to find a spot, stretch and get ready for the yoga to begin at noon. You will need to bring your own mat and water.
I heard about this event last year but only while it was actually going on. Seeing pictures from last year, I knew I missed out on something big. I’m by no means an expert yogi but to see so many people gathered together doing yoga together is an impressive sight. Especially in the heart of the city – Monument Circle, the perfect setting for Indianapolis’ largest yoga event. People of all different skill levels are invited. This will be the second year of this event and it is sure to be even bigger and better.
You all know how I rave about yoga for kids. New this year will be a family yoga class for kids ages 6 and up lead by Peace Through Yoga. The family area will be located just west of the Chocolate Cafe. Look for the balloons! Arrive by 11:30 a.m. because space will fill up fast. Hope to see you and your kids there!
The Monumental Yoga event is free. Donations are accepted and proceeds benefit the non-profits Mighty Lotus and Fight for Life Foundation. For more information follow Monumental Yoga on Twitter or on Facebook. #IndySalutestheSun
