My son LOVES Thomas the Train. Not quite sure how it started but he loves Thomas, Percy, and Gordon and on and on. Some much so that I spent quite some time last November making him a Thomas the Train cake for his 2nd birthday. When I found out that there is a Day Out With Thomas two weekends over the summer in Felton, I was sold.
We had a 1:30pm train time this past Friday. It was pretty crowded, but manageable. We were in train caboose #5, right in the middle. The only bummer was we couldn’t see Thomas from where we were sitting (he is directly in the front of the train) but we were covered with a canopy which was nice. The 25 minute ride took us down into some amazing Redwood trees and the view was spectacular.
They had staff dressed as conductors and handed out Jr. Engineer certificates which I thought was pretty cute. After the ride ended, there is plenty to do. Most people jumped in line to take a picture with Thomas
but we decided to wait a little bit and walk around first. The grounds were flagged with Thomas bounce houses, coloring stations, tattoos, pictures with Sir Topham Hatt, sing-a-longs, story time, face paint, and of course the gift shop. We picked up a puzzle and book set, my son is currently sleeping with both 🙂
A great day had by my family and we would definitely do it again. Thank you Roaring Camp Railroad for making my little guy’s weekend!
