Hubby and I were given the opportunity of a lifetime last summer, as we went to Napa Valley for our first wedding anniversary! My parents joined us, as well, celebrating their own anniversary just a few days after ours (38 years for them!). We had an amazing week full of wonderful food, scenery, and of course wine! Here are some of the best wineries we visited on this trip!
One of the first wineries we visited was Clos Du Val! It’s located in the Stags Leap District. They had wonderful wines, and we had to get a bottle of Chardonnay to bring home with us! It was absolutely breathtaking, and full of history. See the entrance in the picture below!
The next winery was very new when we visited last year, and I’m so thrilled to see them popping up in stores everywhere: Black Stallion! They are located in the beautiful equestrian district of the Oak Knoll Valley.
One of their higher-end creations is called Bucephalus, which is a Bordeaux blend – a rich red blend made mostly of Cabernet Sauvignon. We were privileged to try this during our tasting, but decided to bring home their Sauvingnon Blanc (one of my favorite varietals!).
Next was one of the classiest wineries we visited on the trip: Shafer, which is also located in the Stag’s Leap District. Though they have a variety of highly-regarded wines that they produce, our personal favorite was the Merlot – which is still sitting happily, waiting for a special occasion!
Next was one of our favorites: Far Niente. They had the most lush and historic grounds, full of breathtaking scenery… so breathtaking, in fact, that it completely filled my memory card before we got halfway through!
I managed to snag a picture of the amazing tasting set-up with my mom’s camera. I loved that they paired the wines with cheese, and spelled out everything you were tasting on the little piece of paper.
The last winery I want to mention is St. Supery. I don’t have any pictures of the winery, as my camera was full, but my absolute favorite wine that we brought home from the trip was St. Supery’s Sauvingnon Blanc. The tasting experience here was also amazing… something we’ll never forget!
If you’re heading to Napa Valley, I highly suggest you seek out these places! I have no affiliation with any of them, these were truly our favorites out of the experience. Make sure you check out the websites linked throughout for information about the wineries, wines, tasting rooms, etc. If you can’t visit, keep an eye out for the wine in your local stores or restaurants!
Have you ever been to Napa? What are your favorite wineries, or wines?
I’d love to hear from you! Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions or want more information about any of the above!
