For the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some great ideas to get you and your kids back into the swing of school. This week is about parties…now is the perfect time to start planning one. Here are a few to get your party motor running!
Every year, we host a Back To School Bash the week before school starts for one last hurrah to summer. It’s a great way for your child to see friends they may not have in class this year or to excite them for the first day of school. Plus, it’s a fun reason to get the moms together and marvel how much they have changed since last year.
Don’t let this spread from Just Call Me Martha intimidate you; she has lots of DIY elements and fun tutorials for every skill level.
Check out The TomKat Studio’s party display for Pottery Barn Kids; look around your house for small bookcases or play tables and chairs to duplicate the look. Lots of apples as decor is all you need.
Focus your party theme on different aspects of school like your child’s favorite subject in school like art or geography.
I’m in love with this ‘dessert’ spread from One Charming Party via Amy Atlas; instead of sweets, school supplies! This would be perfect as a neighborhood event. Have a sign up for each family to bring enough of one type of supply (glue bottles, crayons, etc.) for everyone.
Speaking of neigborhood, how about a special breakfast event for the first day of school. At the bus stop, set up an easy spread like doughnuts or a cereal bar. Snag a giant box of waffles from Costco and create a waffle bar with all kinds of toppings like different syrup flavors and cut up fruit. Set up coolers full of juice and milk boxes to eliminate mess. Talk about a great way to start the school year.
Tune in next week for printables…there are lots of great downloads to choose from.
