This idea started as we were picking out books at the library.

Because of the summer reading program, I let my kids get five books each, every week. (Great counting practice for my 3-year olds) In order to make sure they are picking new books, I help. That is how I came across an old favorite, Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Suess.

It is a long book, I had forgotten how long, and has a great message about how saying “I’m sorry” and “it’s my fault” are important (another good thing to practice with small kids). After reading the story and discussing what happened, we decided to incorporate it into our weekly craft as well by making our own “oobleck”. I had a recipe for slime from a crafting magazine, but decided to go with this one that I found on the internet because it used only ingredients that I already had in the house. This is our oobleck in pictures, recipe follows.
