New Year’s Eve in San Diego

With Christmas just a week away, New Year’s Eve is just two weeks away!

Have you thought about your plans to celebrate the close of 2013 and the coming of 2014?  If you like to be out having fun for your New Year’s celebration, here are some great places ready to host your family ringing in the new year.

Legoland – this New Year’s Eve party made for kids is sure to entertain and thrill your mini party animals.  Legoland Snow Days are going on as well as the Winter Nights Holiday Lights Show at 5 p.m.  A kids concert will be going on from 2 pm to 6 pm and a countdown for the new year which will end with a 22-foot drop of Legos and fireworks. The park is open from 9 am to 7 pm and admission to all the holiday events is free with admission. This option gives you plenty of time to celebrate with the kids, then get them to bed while you enjoy your own celebration into the night.

The New Children’s Museum – Join the museum in an after-hours party on December 28th from 5-8 p.m. The Pajama Jam: New Year’s Family Night Out includes dinner, New Year’s Eve themed activities and games, a countdown and balloon drop and live music.  There will be a hosted bar for adults and a silent auction for prizes. John’s Incredible Pizza – This fun family party place is hosting a New Year’s Eve party during New Year’s Eve hours.  From 7 pm to 1am you can enjoy the buffet, drinks, play games and enjoy the rides.  And at midnight you can watch the ball drop on their big screen TVs.  Check out their celebration packages and special deals if you buy before Christmas.

Sea World Fireworks Show – a simple, free option is to watch Sea World’s fireworks show over Mission Bay. The show is at 8:50 pm and can be viewed on Sea World Drive near the Sea World parking lot.  Bring some party snacks and sparkling cider for the kids and enjoy the show.

Big Bay Balloon Parade – On December 30th at 10 am, the nation’s largest balloon parade will take place in Downtown San Diego. Join thousands of spectators watching this family-fun parade with bands, floats, drill teams, and of course, big balloons. This event is a great way to end out the year with your family.
