Mandarin Summer Camps in Bay Area
For those who are looking for ways to keep little ones busy in summer months, I wanted to give a run-down of Mandarin immersion summer programs and camps in the area. A two-week (or longer) camp program can be a more manageable commitment for those who want to try out language immersion without committing to full-time school program. It can also be a gentler way to introduce foreign languages to kids in a more relaxed, fun setting.
The Shu Ren International School in Berkeley will offer a camp for 3-5 year olds and another for Kindergarten age and up. The older camp will include both beginning and intermediate/advanced classes. They offer an Early Bird discount to families who register by March 31.
Also, in Oakland, New Sprouts offers a four-week camp in late July-August. I also just learned that the City of Orinda will offer a morning Mandarin immersion camp. More information is here.

Additional camp listings can be found from the Mandarin Immersion Parents Counciland Families with Children from China/Northern California. All of the schools I listed in this post also have camps so see their websites for more details.
