ICE! At the Gaylord Texan Hotel

I wanted to jumpstart the holidays right (as evident from my previous blogs), so last night I convinced my hubby to take the entire family to the Gaylord Texan hotel. As expected, the hotel had all of their lighted Christmas décor up as we drove into the property.

We were not disappointed. Rather, we were giddy with excitement as we parked and walked into the hotel.

Immediately, we were greeted with Christmas music, bright holiday lights, humongous displays (multiple choo-choo trains, a snowman, a life size gingerbread house, reindeer shaped bushes, and the smell of gingerbread baking from a nearby oven – how’d they do that?). As we explored every nook and cranny of the hotel’s bottom floor, we “ooh’ed and ah’ed”.

The Gaylord Texan hotel was the perfect venue. I highly recommend a visit!

Not only was it remarkable watching our girls’ eyes light up, but I knew we were creating lifetime memories.

The icing (pun intended) on this visit was ICE! (their indoor larger than life ice sculptures) which centered around the movie, “Shrek The Halls”. Of course, there was Shrek, Fiona, the triplets, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Pinocchio, Three Pigs, Blind Mice, Gingy, etc. It was awesome; especially, if you’re a big Shrek fan (one of my favorite movies). We had been thru ICE! a few years ago, but refrained after our three year old was born (we wanted to wait until she was old enough to enjoy and justify the cost of admission and endure the Alaskan like weather conditions).  Now that she was older, we were ready to conquer!

Sliding on the Ice Sculpture

As we were handed our tickets, we walked thru the line to retrieve the jackets to enter the 8 degree chamber. Our little one looked like a penguin, but we smiled and giggled in delight. The coolest thing? Sliding on the ice sculpture!

Ready to Eat her Gingy Gingerbread Cookie

Before leaving the hotel, be sure to grab a gingerbread hotel. We couldn’t resist the “just out of the oven” aroma.
