Do the thoughts of Christmas include enjoying family time while ice skating on an outdoor ice rink? They always have with me. Unfortunately, living in Texas, this is something I’ve only seen in the movies. This year my dream comes true because Frisco has their first outdoor ice skating rink!

Located near the Dallas North Tollway, on Main Street is an actual outdoor ice skating rink. No need to own your own skates, the cost of admission, which is only $10.00 per person, includes the skates.

This rink is open now through January 8th, 2012 and is only closed Christmas Day or if there is inclement weather. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 2:00 to 10:00 pm. And Friday through Sunday, noon to 10:00 pm.

A tip to enjoy this rink in the most Christmasy of ways is to go at nighttime. You will love skating under Frisco’s Christmas in the Square Holiday Lights. Frisco is proud to showcase the largest choreographed holiday lights and music display in Texas. Imagine skating under thousands of lights twinkling across the buildings in Frisco Square, all set to music.

The ice rink is also available for private rental. The entire rink can be rented for only $200! What an awesome way to celebrate the holiday with your well deserving employees or if you have a large family and are looking for something extra special to do this season.

Here’s a link to the map of Frisco Square, including information on the Christmas events going on in December. There’s many opportunities to enjoy and share the holiday spirit with your loved ones.

I hope to see you at “Lights on Ice”, Frisco’s premier holiday outdoor ice rink!
