I mark my calendar every year for this one day perk. And the best part is, no matter where you live, museums and historic sites near you will be free on September 28.
Museum Day Live is an opportunity to visit some of the historic sites you’ve been putting off, or love, for free. Museums, big and small, across the country are participating. Sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine, it’s an awesome and a great deal– especially if you’ve been wanting to visit your local science center or children’s museum. But don’t want to pay.
Just beware, you have to claim your free tickets ahead of time on the Museum Day Live site, but once you do, you’ll have two free tickets to your selected venue.
Participating this year in the DC area are a few places I’ve been hoping to get to:
I’ve noticed over the past few years the selection of museums has changed, but every year there are a few favorites that come back. I hope this is something Smithsonian Magazine will continue to keep up, until we’ve seen them all!
