I recently heard about a great opportunity for special needs kids: the 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt put together by Especiallyneeded.org. Heather, founder of Especiallyneeded.org, is a mom with a daughter who has Downs Syndrome. I met Heather a few years ago and could sense right away this mama’s passion to help her daughter, LeAnna, feel included in day-to-day activities that other girls enjoyed. Heather’s passion to help LeAnna extends to the entire special needs community and has since led her to establish Especiallyneeded.org, who’s mission it is to build a strong community where individuals with special needs are valued, respected and included.
Using her own resources and support from wonderful sponsors and volunteers, Heather has pursued her vision by putting together events such as Especiallyneeded.org’s 1st Annual Fall Carnival where over 400 people and more than 150 families attended. This year, Heather hopes to have as much success with their 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt that’s scheduled for Saturday, April 9 from 1pm – 4pm at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch in McKinney. (RSVP by April 2nd is requested to make sure the event can accommodate all attendees.)
Activities that special needs families will enjoy:
- Bounce House
- Have your picture taken with the Easter Bunny
- Face Painting
- Snacks and drinks
- Live Bunnies
- Sack Race
- Egg and Spoon Race
- Bunny Hop
- Cake Walk and much more!
Activities start at 1:00PM and the hunts will begin at approximately 2:30PM. There will also be a unique hunt for individuals who require wheelchair assistance.
This is a FREE event for special needs families to attend so sponsor participation is key. If you or someone you know can help sponsor this event, please contact Heather at email@example.com. You can see current event needs listed on this page. For more event information, you can print a flyer from the Especiallyneeded.org website.
If you know of a special needs family that would enjoy this special event, tell them about Especiallyneeded.org’s 1st Annual Easter Egg Hunt!
