Pumpkin pie. Apple pie. Turkey and mashed potatoes. Dressing. Gravy.
Luckily for us, we’re sticking around town this year, which means I can run the local Turkey Trot and my husband can play in our church’s turkey bowl.
If you’re heading out of town, there are even a couple races the weekend before. So no excuses. The money raised from some of these races will also go to help feed those in need.
We are also so lucky to live in a place with mild weather at this time of year. It’s perfect for a quick run outside and even better when you can come inside and enjoy something warm. Like cocoa. Or a Thanksgiving feast (which hopefully my husband will be preparing).
– Herndon Turkey Trot 5K.
– Freeze Your Gizzard 5K race and 1-mile fun run in Leesburg. All ages are welcome and the first 400 who show up in their best turkey costume or a shirt from previous races will receive a prize. Register here.
– RidgeRunners Club Turkey Trot 5K walk and 10K run in Woodbridge.
The best part of all these races? You’ll still have time to come home and cook up your feast, or freshen up before heading out to enjoy your holiday.
