As a mother of two, soon to be three, I wanted to write about the essentials-things that I know I need for a baby now that this is my third. There are no wipes warmers or diaper genies on this list, just the needed things. I have two girls and this is my first boy so I do get to shop a bit for clothes and boy stuff and it’s been so fun! I tried to group everything into categories alphabetically to make it an easy read-everything is my favorite.

Bath Time

Earth Mama Angel Baby

I have been a fan of Earth Mama Angel Baby for a long time now. I was first introduced to them at Birth Without Fear and I have loved everything they make ever since. I try to be very careful what I put on my babies so fresh from the womb! All of their products are gentle and are rated 1 for toxins on EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database and made without synthetic fragrance, phthalates or parabens. And they smell SO good!! Many of their products come in gift sets-all ready for a baby shower. They also offer some incredible options for Mamas, which I’ll be reviewing next month-so stay tuned!

Puj is amazing. Puj is the perfect example of a mom finally inventing all of the things that all moms wish they had. The Puj tub is brilliant-it fits in any sink and folds flat to dry and store-not taking up too much space in my bathroom! As if that wasn’t magical enough, their towel is an apron! How many times have you bent over to pull your baby up out of the tub or sink and dropped the towel in the tub or caught it in your mouth while also trying to not drop your wet, slippery babe?! Their towels and washcloths are also super absorbent and soft for your babies brand new skin. All of their innovation is my favorite, and I am so excited to use this for my new babe.

I am so impressed by the quality and softness of these adorable baby clothes! Only the finest 100% organic cotton, eco friendly dyes, and all natural wood. And on top of that, their clothes and accessories are produced in fair trade settings that focus on social and economic independence for local people, women especially, working to provide for their families in a safe and fair environment. They have also created the cutest wood rattles for a teething babe-their smooth, soft and very safe for babies to bite on.

Ice Cream Castles

Dreamy sweet baby clothes for your dreamy sweet baby. All of their clothes are 100% cotton and oh so soft and comfy! This company is run by two new mamas-their own personal journey into motherhood as well as their love of fashion and all things enchanting helped to birth this fabulous line.

These bandana bibs are awesome! They’re a cute accessory with a purpose! Instead of goofy looking bibs for my drooling babe, he can wear these super absorbant bandanas! I love MatiMati not only for their darling bandanas, but for their companies cause as well-every time you buy a set of bandana bibs, they donate a percentage to Chain Reaction to fight human trafficking.

SoftBaby’s clothes are all organic, beautifully made and soft, clean, organic fabric that ensures a gentle touch on baby’s skin. SoftBaby is dedicated to provide pin-sized garments that are easy on baby’s skin as well as the earth. The designs are timeless and would easily last through each child.

Diaper Bags

Fawn Design

I’m a firm believer that you should get a new diaper bag with every baby. This is probably because I’m spoiled and I have a love of handbags. Probably too much of a love. Fawn Design bags are beautiful, functional, and they wipe clean! I also love that I can hand this bag to my husband with zero guilt because he doesn’t look like a guy holding a purse. It has the perfect number of pockets and it’s just the right size-not so big that I can load it too much, but big enough to accomodate everything I need for me and my baby. It easily transitions from a cross-body to a back pack and they offer several beautiful and simple colors.

Laundry! Yay!! Ok, not really BUT if I’m going to do laundry Babyganics definitely makes it a more pleasant experience. I’m the most excited about the wool balls-if you’ve never heard of these they are amazing! Wool balls eliminate the need for fabric softener and help soften fabrics, reduce static and decrease drying time, helping to lower home energy consumption-perfect for keeping my new babe’s clothes soft without all of the chemicals. Their detergent and stain remover both smell so yummy and are made with plant-based ingredients that actually get the job done with no 1,4 dioxane or sulfates. They’re safe for washing everything from onesies to cloth diapers and are HE compatible!

I’ve been impressed with all of the products from Fridababy. After many uses with my other two, it’s definitely time for a new booger sucker for this baby. If you’ve never used a NoseFrida, they’re amazing. My children tend to have some allergies and stuffiness when they’re teething and this little device has made a huge difference in their ability to breath and sleep! I like that because the tube is clear you can monitor how effective it is, unlike a traditional bulb syringe. Fridababy also offers a ton of other innovative products for yours and your babies wellbeing!

Lorena Canals

This may seem like a strange essential, but it is. I cannot tell you how many times I have been grateful for area rugs in my babies rooms. In the middle of the night instead of scrubbing vomit off of my carpets I’ve been able to roll up a rug and throw it outside to be hosed down in the morning. Lorena Canals has made my life even easier-their rugs fit in a washing machine!! This bear one is so soft and ridiculously cute! It’s made of 100% natural washable cotton, is flexible and will be the perfect place for my sweet babe to play!

Research and purchase binkies before you deliver your baby. With my first I ended up having a lengthy discussion with a CNA about if I wanted to give my baby a pacifier, which kind we should give her and if it was even a good idea. This took place in my hospital bed at 2 AM and wasn’t my favorite experience. I’m not making that mistake again. Natursutten makes fantastic binkies and I love that their large round shield gently touches baby’s nose, simulating breastfeeding. Natursutten pacifiers are softer than silicone, and are very hygienic because they are molded in one piece without joints or cracks where dirt and bacteria can accumulate.

Nursing & Feeding

Bamboobies are the luxury nursing pad of all nursing pads. They are amazing because they’re washable and they don’t stick to you!! They are made of ultra-soft and soothing bamboo rayon velour, an absorbent inner layer of cotton with an outer milk-proof liner to help prevent embarrassing leaks! These nursing pads are super absorbent and eco-friendly. I’m amazed at the quality and grateful for the special kindness they offer my sore nursing boobies. Their nipple balm is also amazing, organic and lanolin free-keeping your nipples free of pesticides and safe for babe.

Boon is another company coming up with amazing innovations to make my life easier as a Mom and I love them for it!! They have silicone lids that make ANY cup a sippy cup and amazing silicone mesh spoons that make feeding a baby much less mess! The silicone is easier to clean, doesn’t harbor bacteria like the mesh cloth ones can and is perfect for when you baby is teething. I love loading up a mesh teether with frozen bananas or berries and letting my babies gum on one of those to alleviate their teething pain. They even make darling drying racks for all of their amazing items that are also perfect for keeping bottles upright so they dry completely.

The First Years

With both of my daughters breastfeeding was important to me, but so was bottle training. I worked full-time outside of my home with my first baby and pumping and bottle feeding was a necessity. I was so glad I had researched bottles and pumps beforehand and already had them available. These bottles from The First Years are awesome because they are designed so your baby uses two motions – suction and compression. These two motions allow your baby to instinctively control the milk flow just like breastfeeding. They are designed to help reduce colic symptoms, gas and spit up and the lids snap on to the bottom so you don’t lose them!

The DockATot is the niftiest little nest! It is a multi-functional lounging, playing, chilling, resting and snuggling dock you can take anywhere. My babies love having a nurturing and cozy surrounding and feel calmer being in a smaller environment. DockATot creates a soft and tender surrounding for little ones to lie in and feel snug and comforted. I love that I can easily move this from room to room, giving them somewhere safe and snuggly to be as I’m folding laundry, writing or cleaning!

HALO SleepSackSwaddle

Image placeholder title

These HALO sleepsack swaddles are amazing. They are the only 3-way adjustable swaddle that adjusts to your baby’s sleep style. You can swaddle arms in, hands-to-face, one or both arms out to ensure the best sleep and an easy and gentle transition when it is time to stop swaddling. The zipper is also inverted for easy night-time diaper changes!

Ollie Swaddle

Image placeholder title

I love swaddling my babies like little burritos. The Ollie Swaddle is cool because it has moisture-wicking threads interwoven into the fabric reduce the risk of overheating, which we need in this hot desert of mine. It velcros to hold little arms in securely and also has easy access at the bottom for midnight diaper changes!

How cute are these keys?! Kleynimals makes stainless steel, washable, non-toxic baby toys and utensils. This means they are timeless, durable and a great option for my sweet babe! They also will satisfy the incessant need all babies seem to have for putting icky car keys in their mouth!

Lamaze toys are incredible because they last forever. They never wear out, they survive washing well and they’re incredibly durable. If you purchase a Lamaze toy, you will have it for the duration of your children, unless you leave it at the park and promptly have to go find a replacement. I love the bright colors, how stimulating they are, the fact that they’re typically gender-neutral and how easily they group the different kinds for different age groups. It makes gift-giving very easy as well!

After going through 2 babies and realizing we were coming up on expiration (infant carseats expire-check the stickers!), we needed a new carseat. I am SO excited about this carseat. It is truly every mother’s dream. Doona has created everything I’ve always wanted-a carseat stroller combo that pops up with a button and collapses with a button. It’s incredible. It’s also one of the safest infant carseats on the market and has the following features:

  • Doona Car Seats can easily be converted to a stroller and back to a car seat all while baby is safely strapped in.
  • Doona has the best 5-point harness in the industry and comes with shoulder pads for baby’s comfort.
  • Doona comes with a complementary seat protector for your car.
  • Doona is suitable for babies 4-35 lbs. and up to 32 inches both as a car seat and as a mobility solution.
  • Doona has a 3-layer Side-Impact Protection: Legs, EPS Foam and Memory Foam Head Rest
  • Textile Set has passed the toughest US standard (CA, Prop 65)
  • Doona has passed all the car seat, stroller, and infant seat safety regulations and is aircraft certified.

When I first recieved the Doona I was worried that it would be very heavy or that it would be difficult to use. It is only slightly heavier than a normal carseat (which doesn’t matter because I won’t be carrying it around anyway!) and it seriously just converts to a stroller without any real effort. I’m completely amazed. It fits in my car as well as any other infant carseat would, and because of the added length, I can keep my baby in this seat longer than I was able to keep my other babies in theirs.

Doona also makes custom accessories to go along with their carseats adding storage options and making life so easy! I’m over the moon excited to use this carseat with my new babe!

Speaking of awesome stroller accessories-check out this hand muff from SkipHop! I have very high hopes for getting out this winter and walking with my new baby. Even though I live in the desert, we do get pretty cold during the winter months and I’m hoping this will help me not care as much-and for those of you in the colder climates-isn’t this great? SkipHop has a ton of other amazing baby necessities and gift ideas.

Solly Baby

Image placeholder title

I love wearing my babies. Solly Baby makes the softest, sweet wraps that are perfect for keeping your baby close. Wearing both of my girls made my life so much easier-I was able to get things done on rough days for them, and help them sleep when they struggled. By keeping them close when they were little I didn’t have to deal with people touching them when we went out in public. Solly Baby supports American factories, fabric mills, dye houses, and printers which I love. Their prints are timeless and appeal more to my own personal style-they’re gorgeous!

I hope you like my list! What would you add (other than lots and lots of diapers, of course!)
