Halloween, Thanksgiving, blah, blah, blah. Is it December yet? I’m in no rush for snowball fights or Christmas trees, but have you heard? Mary Poppins Returns hits theatres on December 19th and I can’t wait!

If you haven’t seen the official trailer that got released this week, give it a watch at the top of this post.

I’m so giddy I don’t even know where to start. I guess we should begin with Mary herself. Stepping into Julie Andrews’s perfectly polished shoes would be daunting to say the least. But Disney knew what it was doing by placing its faith in Emily Blunt. The beloved star looks right at home in the role, and may even leave us thinking, Julie who?

The single line she sings in the trailer has caused the Internet to go crazy with questions of whether Emily Blunt really sings in Mary Poppins, or has a voice double. Well, just when you thought you couldn’t love her more, you find out she sings too! She does in fact perform her own songs in the movie. That shouldn’t be a surprise though since she sang in the 2014 movie Into the Woods.

Emily doesn’t have to carry the movie alone though. The rest of the cast includes superstars like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, and so many more. Come on! The whole thing seems to be playing off the nostalgia and magic of the original, while still giving it a fresh, modern take.

The new twist on an old favorite looks like it will be an all-around crowd pleaser, and I, for one, am beyond excited to watch Mary Poppins Returns in theaters this December.
