The book was about a young girl who wanted to be a knight. Her parents were magicians, and accidentally turned themselves into pigs. Because there are “books of magic” in the book, and this one specific book liked to eat biscuits with jam and get his pages sticky, we had biscuits and jam for a treat. We made a cute little shield about chivalry, discussed the book and subjects related to the book, and ended the night with a craft. We painted a “book of magic” of our own to take home.
I was a little worried attending it for the first time, as we did not have time to read the book. We attended any way, and were glad we did! Even though the book was discussed, we didn’t feel left out for not having read the book. For January, we have enough time to read the book, and will enjoy the book club session even more!
The January book club selection is “The BFG” by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl was one of my favorite authors when I was younger, and we are enjoying reading this selection. The book club will meet on Tuesday January 20th at 7pm at the Hunter Library in West Valley City. It is located at 4740 West 4100 South. We would love to have many of you join us! The book club is for girls age 8 to 12 with a caring adult. This is a free event.
You can also check a library near you to inquire about book clubs in your area.
