I found this beautiful vinyl stick on tree on clearance at Buy Buy Baby. It worked so well with the color scheme of the walls and gave me the inspiration for my son’s custom alphabet art for his wall.
Right now there are a lot of Pinterest ideas for alphabet nursery décor. However, buying them already made gets PRICEY!! If you’re patient and can ride out the typical 6 week sales cycle you can do this inexpensively. It took me about 1 month to collect and paint the letters for the wall. I shopped 3 craft chains due to their sales and coupons (Hobby Lobby, JoAnn’s, and Michael’s). I recommend signing up for their mailing list and downloading their mobile app. Sometimes they send out additional coupons that can be combined with their sales for great percentages off the sale prices.
For the nursery wall I wanted different fonts, sizes, dimension, etc. I used some unfinished plaques (wood section of the craft stores) and canvas to vary the look. I also used foam and rubber stamps to add details. It is a good idea to layout the letters as you obtain and paint them so you can spread out the color.
After weeks of collecting and painting it was time to put them up on the wall. I used Command Strips to avoid nail holes. Ta-da!!! Custom alphabet art wall. Thankfully the color scheme and the art will last for the next few years before needing to update to a “big boy” room.
