My boys have been in the kitchen since they could hold a spoon. My little one, who is almost 8, is so excited that he can do more on his own and keeps requesting to help me cook.

Written by an award winning food stylist and her young daughter, and aimed at the 4 – 8 year old set, it’s full of yummy, family-friendly recipes that features steps written just for kids so they can follow along with a little help from you. We all know that kids who help prepare food are more likely to eat it, and this book is full of new twists on old favorites as well as classic recipes.
It’s broken up into four sections: Rise & Shine, Snacktime, Supper, and Sweets and is full of colorful photos and ideas on fun variations of each recipe. From Little Frittatas to Breakfast Pinwheels, Hummus & Veggies Cones, and Snowball Cupcakes, there are so many delicious, healthy dishes made from scratch.
My favorite part is every recipe includes steps made for the grownups like using knives and has call outs for kids, they have to keep their eye out for the special text for what they can do. Everyone gets a part!
We are working our way through the book; we’ve made Mini Burgers With Sweet Potato Fries, Crispy Chicken Bites, and Inside-Out Apple Crisps, just to name a few.
In fact, here is the Chicken Potpies, and in honor of Valentine’s Day we used a heart cookie cutter instead of the star cutter pictured in the recipe. He was so proud of himself, from peeling the potatoes to rolling out the puff pastry tops.
I would highly recommend getting your hands on this book and get to cookin’ and having fun in the kitchen with your kids.
