Support for Families with Disabilities (www.supportforfamilies.org)  has announced a new Assistive Communication Technology/ iPad Lending Program. Beginning this Fall 2013 (exact date to be announced—check website for details), the program will begin holding information workshops for caregivers to discuss the available technology and the lending services. At the end of the workshops, caregivers will have the opportunity to borrow  iPads from the lending library for 1 month. This will give caregivers the chance to see if the technology is useful for their child before making the financial commitment to purchase the technology on their own.

The overall goal of this program is to increase communication ability for children with special needs, as well as to give caregivers a glimpse of how the technology could serve their child.

It sounds like a great program and I can’t wait to share more information about it in the coming months.
