Are You Ready For Some Pee Wee Football?

Football season is upon us.

Not only the big bad NFL football, but also High School, Middle School, and Pee Wee.

My son… my 6 year old… my baby…. has been signed up for Pee Wee flag football.  I, the mother, would much rather him continue with his career as the best darn Little League baseball player, but my husband, the high school football “hero,” has other plans for him.

Yesterday was try outs for the teams.  He did a lot better than I expected.  They ran a few drills and I watched as all the coaches made little notes on their clipboards.   I don’t know how well he did compared to others, but in my play book he did great.

Football is so different from baseball.  Not only because it is a different sport, but because with baseball, you have all these loud moms who have a lot to say.  Watching the football tryouts, all I saw were a bunch of men, who you could tell played a lot of football in their day.  All of them cheering on their little guys… or more more letting them know what they did wrong.

I am not sure if I am ready for this.  All I have to say is yes, it is only flag football, but the first time he twists an ankle, his football career is over!
