Things I Tried
Unseasonably cold spring + fussy non-sleeping babe = retail therapy, yo.
My birthday was last month so I found myself with a little extra cash in my pockets so on various shopping trips and late night internet browsing, I picked up a few new things in the last few weeks. Things that I usually pass up because they’re “not on the list”.
Guess what, sometimes a worn out mama needs to toss a few extra things in the shopping cart because that little treat can be just what the doctor ordered. If you find yourself in need of a pick-me-up, here’s a few things to consider...
Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo:Katrina shared this on her blog as the “cure for greasy hair”. LOVE IT. But use a light touch with this stuff. The first time I tried it I overdid it a bit and felt like I was wearing a firm powdered wig for most of the day. Don’t be like me...show some restraint.
Burt’s Bee’s Tinted Lip Balm: great lip balm with a light tint of color. Perfect for summer and for perking up your 3-day-old-hair look without looking like you're trying too hard. I want every color.
essie Nail Polish: I may be trapped under the new-baby-in-the-house rock, but even I know that orangey red is all the rage, so I picked up a bottle of too too hot and it’s perfection. I am a sucker for sparkles so I also grabbed jamaica me crazy (heh). Here my kiddo models both colors. Her idea.
IZZE Sparkling Peach: Yes, I’ve had IZZE before, but the Sparkling Peach variety? They should rename that stuff “summer in a bottle”.
Mumford & Sons, Sigh No More: I may be the last to jump on the Mumford & Sons bandwagon. No matter. I love the album and on the off chance that you too have been too busy to keep up on your pop culture/new music discovery, I thought I’d share.
Urban Baby Bonnets: Nici offered a discount for Urban Baby Bonnets on her blog, Dig This Chick, and I was all over it. My fairer haired boy needs to be able to keep up with big sister and that means spending a lot of time outside. These bonnets stay on really well and seem comfortable...I mean, he’s not crying and swatting at it like the first hat I tried. ;)
Instagram: not a huge purchase, I know, but if you use Facebook like I do (to quickly scan for new posted photos) you’ll love Instagram. Snap a photo, use a cool filter and share it. Followers can show you some love through comments and “likes”. You can share your photos easily via Twitter and Facebook so everyone can see them. Except my mom who refuses to Facebook.
There you have it! Anything new you want to share? Based on the delight I’ve experienced by splurging occasionally at Target, I’m looking for more ideas. :)
