Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge 2014
It's almost here, both daunting and glorious - SUMMER! Every May we start making our "Summer Bucket List" with all of the things that we'd like to do. The list includes all kinds of fun things, and inevitably has a list of all of the things I think we should be doing to resist the urge to lay on the couch and watch Netflix or play video games.
I always intend to have some sort of summer reading program but outside of encouraging the kids to read, I've never put anything formal together. I stumbled across the "Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge" the other day and it's perfect!
Here's how it works:
- Join the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge
- Read and log minutes all summer
- Take weekly challenges and earn rewards
- Help set a new world record!
The Summer Reading Challenge goes from May 5th - September 5th 2014. You can actually start tracking minutes NOW. My son earned his first badge this week.
