Picture Summer So Far

The last time I picked up a camera to capture anything more artistic or thoughtful than a vacation snapshot or smiling baby was in college. Until I started Picture Summer...

My motivation for signing up for Picture Summer was simple.

Since June was spent putting the last minute touches on, then hosting evo ’10, I thought it would be a great way to kick off July (we now return to our regularly scheduled summer, already in progress) and do a little something to enrich one of my long dormant past times.

Now, let me be honest. When I say “long-dormant”, I mean that the last time I picked up a camera with the intention of capturing anything more artistic or thoughtful than a vacation snapshot or smiling baby was in college.

As part of Picture Summer, I’m greeted each morning by a prompt from Tracey Clark —a little push to pick up the camera and capture life in an interesting way or notice a quintessential feature of summer that I might have other wised missed.

I haven’t been able to meet every one of the daily prompt goals, but I have picked up my camera every single day and snapped a photo that I brings me joy. I wanted to share a few of my favorites from this first week. These are the photos that, for me, capture summer.

We head outside first thing in the morning. Jammies and all. No wonder our neighbors keep their blinds closed.

Tree climbing. Tangled hair.

This old girl gets hosed down every morning.

Oh, look! Flowers I’ve managed not to kill!

More flowers that have survived in my care! See. Miracles DO happen.

Have a very wonderful weekend.
