When March hits and I’ve had it with Winter, the first thing I reach for is a bottle of bright nail polish to paint my toes. Sometimes I’m even so sick of covering up that I pull out the open-toed shoes when the slush is still four inches deep--like I can change the weather with the Force of Footwear. Now it’s April and still snowing where I live; no lovely Spring weather, light cotten skirts, no pastel nothin’. What can we do? Grab a new pot of eye color, some new blush, and get to some face-spackling, ladies!
This year it’s all about pink. Last year it was about pink, too, but this time, everyone means it. Honeysuckle pink has been named the color of the year, so you’re about to see it pop up in every shop.
What to wear with honeysuckle, navy, white, and all the rest of those marvelous Spring colors? How about some of these:
Yummy. CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Fairytale--it's practically honeysuckle! A little of this with just some mascara and perfect brows, done.
A trio of eyecolor from MAC:
Have brown eyes? I love a blue with brown.
Have blue eyes? Try a browny-pink to set them off.
Green or hazel eyes? Me too! I'm seriously eying this dirty purple (yeah you are) "Memorabilia."
"But that's so bright!" I hear you say. Stop it. It's Spring time and this pink is sheer. I personally love a rose with a hint of gold. The darker your skin tone, the brighter your blush should be--all my mocha mamas need to fuchsia it up.
What's a big dark mascara doing on this roundup of light and pink makeup? Because you have to play up what you have and I slam it with Lash Stiletto mascara. Just this morning I got an email asking for my favorite mascara. It's hard to make a definitive statement because there are so many and what works for you may not work for someone else . Example: my sister got a sample of a super chi-chi mascara she wore a couple times--because after a couple times, all her eyelashes BROKE OFF. True story. Happened in December.
If you need volume (lots of lashes) there are volumizing formulas (Covergirl's new line is great.) I'm a length kind of girl, so I do shiny black patent Lash Stiletto.
The one thing I don't leave the house without? Done eyebrows. I get compliment after compliment on my eyebrows. Thanks, gals and you special guys, I pluck them myself and pencil in what I don't have. What do I use? Straight up Covergirl, beezies! Why? Because it's CHEAP and I lose stuff. They're always on sale, or BOGO, so it's not an investment item. How do I do those brows? That's a post for another day.
What new in your compact for Spring?
