If I had more room the title of this post would be “Dieting During the Holidays...I Don’t Know What I’m Doing Either.”

I didn’t write my healthy living post last week because I didn’t have anything to say other than...

I’m dodging holiday treats. Help meeeeeeeee.

Trying to actively lose weight during the month of December, feels a bit like swimming upstream with bowling balls in each hand.

I vacillate between resolve to stick to my goals and feeling silly for passing on delicious food that only makes an appearance this time of year. I talked a good game back in week nine but at this point, I’m just winging it.

On Monday we made chocolate-dipped Oreos and covered them in sprinkles and candy cane bits. My girl and I had a blast while her brother napped and they were DELICIOUS. I had at least 10 over the course of the day.

Mmmm....candy canes...

Mmmm....candy canes...

Yesterday when I woke up, I did not feel so hot. (Too many Oreos makes for a crummy tummy.) So I had a green smoothie for breakfast and got a good workout in.

Not as tasty as an Oreo.

Not as tasty as an Oreo.

And ate the rest of the Oreos in the afternoon.

See...I don’t know what I’m doing either.

I’ve decided that for the rest of the month, “healthy living” has to be measured by more than just losing weight.

Drink plenty of water. (Take it easy on the coffee.)

Eat plenty of greens. (Even if it’s followed by cookies.)

Get some sleep. (Even if it means skipping the workout.)

Have fun. (Isn’t that what the holidays are supposed to be all about?)
