Trust me, I’m the first one to make a paper chain when counting down to an important date.
So you can imagine that a passionate countdown-er such as myself would discover a lot of joy in holiday advent calendars. My daughter is two and has definitely had a chocolate advent calendar the past two years. As have my husband and I since I don’t want to miss out on all the fun. Even our DOGS have an advent calendar. That’s right. I mean countdown business.
This year it seemed time to kick up the countdown a notch. After all, she is two! For the past year, I’ve been gradually collecting Christmas books. I’ve searched high and low with after holiday sales, library sales, books that I had when I was younger, even eBay. With 24 books under my belt, I wrapped up each and every little book in holiday paper fresh from the dollar store. Every night before she goes to bed, we stop by our holiday book gift pile and she chooses and unwraps one of the “new” books to read that night.

Woot! It was inexpensive, it’s jazzing her up for Christmas, we’re reading, and her mother is a psycho countdown queen. It’s a win-win!
