A 2009 Blogger Recap is from little old me, Erin Oltmanns from TodaysMama.com. Here’s to a fantastic, 2010!
Here are a few favorites that I must share:
Fashion & Beauty Finds: I’ve been (fairly and appropriately) called a “hippy” and “granola” this year, so I’m not going to blow your mind with my fashion savvy, but if you lean a little hippy you may like these:
Timbuk2 Bag - just the right size for all the crap a working mom needs to have on the fly.
Liplicious - Shimmer...well, that you can get anywhere. Buy these babies for the delicious smell and if you can get your hands on “Brown Sugar”, buy it by the bucket load.
Klean Kanteen Sippy - bpa free, doesn’t leak, easy to clean. When your kiddo is old enough, you can upgrade to a sport spout...we have abused our Klean Kanteens A LOT. Trust me, if you don’t lose it, you’ll have it around for a good long while. Get an insulated sleeve while you’re at it.
Hullabaloo - loving their Tall As A Tree album. My girl and I both dig these tunes.
Food Related: I discovered Clif Z Bars. They are perfect - just the right size for an adult sized snack without loading up on 250 calories from a more traditional protein bar. Mostly organic too. My favorite is Chocolate Brownie, my kiddo loves the Blueberry.
Pop-Culture Related: 2009 was the year of the vampire. I read the Sookie Stackhouse books (on which True Blood is based), filled my need for True Blood by reading the HI-LARIOUS recaps on Mama Pop, became obsessed with New Moon promotional teasers, then to top it all off, kicked Edward Cullen off the best vamp pedestal in favor of the Salvatore boys.
Tech & Gadgets: I moved from a Treo/PC combo to an iPhone/MacBook combo. I now spend far less time swearing at my phone and laptop than I did in 2008.
Favorites that embarrass me and horrify my family: My household footwear - I love to wear Smartwool socks and....wait for it...Crocs. The combo is deliciously comfortable and warm. I limit this fierce fashion statement to my home.

Favorites from 2009:
Album:Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King by Dave Matthews Band - best DMB album ever, in my opinion.
TV Show:Bones. If you’re not already watching Bones, do yourself a favor, go Netflix the first 4 seasons. If you skip right to the current season, you’ll miss one of the best written and developed love stories on television.
Vampire Diaries. Don’t even get me started. Just go watch it. Even my big burly husband likes it.
Movie: Star Trek. Because I was a Sci-Fi geek before I was a vampire geek.
iPhone App: For my kiddo - ABC Animals. For me - Ambiance. Great for when I need to work or concentrate in a small house when some else (I’m looking at YOU, big burly husband) is watching TV.
YouTube Video:Flight of the Concords: Sugar Lumps [That link is not safe for work, for kiddos or Republicans.]
Eye Candy: 2009 gave Firefly fans something to be happy about. Nathan Fillon as Rick Castle. Niiiiiice.
This year in social networking...
Favorite Facebook status update:
Blogging in 2009
What great blogs did you discover this year?
Marta Writes gives me the push I need to take those small extra steps to get every ounce out of life.
I Love Life shares my love for coffee and Boxers and ends every post with “Go!”. That “Go!” really does a number on me...in a good way.
The Jet Set intimidates me with her wit. In a good way.
Who are your favorite bloggers, year after year?
Ali Edwards for the way she projects a positive and peaceful attitude.
Cathy Zielski for making hilarious videos and influencing 50% of my iTunes purchases since I started reading.
Rude Cactus for sharing what goes through the mind of a good Dad.
What did your favorite blogger teach you this year?
Nici Holt Cline shared a skill that I’ve been aching to learn, in a way that was super useful. Watch out for the festival of canning happening next autumn at La Casa de Oltmanns.
Favorite post of 2009 (your own):Busy Family Food: Soup Sundays
Favorite photo of 2009:
This summer, we trekked up to the farthest reaches of Michigan so my daughter could meet her Great-Grandpa.
I had to share a bed with my boss at Blogher. She clearly enjoyed it more than I did.
What did you kick to the curb this year? Mind-reading and the accompanying guilt after the inevitable failure.
What/who did you realize you are particularly grateful for? My Dad. That man keeps my world turning in ways he’ll never know.
What did you do this year that you’re really proud of? Learned to bake bread with Grandma Kathy.
What word sums up 2009 for you? Good.
What would you have done differently in 2009? Started my Christmas shopping earlier.
Best vacation/weekend getaway of 2009. My kiddo’s first camping trip to Zion National Park. She’s got the camping gene. Woo!
What did your kids teach you this year? The bigger the rush, the harder it is to get your socks and shoes on.
What did your mom teach you this year? To accept help when someone offers. Thanks, Mom.
What are you looking forward to most in 2010? It’s simple, but this year I’m going to try to cultivate a small fruit and veggie garden. This is big, considering I killed six (yes, I said SIX) hanging baskets last summer.
What is your #1 goal for 2010? To go with the flow. See also: stop swimming upstream.
