‘Tis the season to eat all the wonderful things! And to give wonderful yummy food as gifts.
Trader Joe’s does yummy food really well year-round, but during the holidays, they are EXCEPTIONAL at dipping stuff in chocolate, coating stuff in peppermint, and feeding your gingerbread habit.
So whether you’re looking for ideas for your private holiday treat collection, or need some ideas for food gifts, please consider this amazing assortment of foods (and one non-food item) from Trader Joe’s…
DARK CHOCOLATE COVERED PEPPERMINT CREMES
If you’re a big fan of frozen Junior Mints at the movies, these are going to make your holiday heart SING. This candy cane flavored patty is tasty and gooey in the most delightful way.
WINTERTIDE TEA COOKIE COLLECTION
Want to feel fancy? These will do the trick nicely. They are light and delicious and I highly recommend that you treat these as your secret weapon when it comes to holiday entertaining—they are wonderful with tea, hot cocoa, or coffee. They are also packaged beautifully and would make a wonderful gift.
MINI GINGERBREAD MEN
Save yourself the trouble of making gingerbread man cookies and stock up on these instead. They are crisp and ginger-y without being too spicy, so kiddos love them. I’ve been stashing these in my girl’s lunchbox for a fun holiday treat.
MINI DARK CHOCOLATE MINT STARS
WARNING. You may or may not end up devouring these delicious cookies in one sitting. (Ask me how I know.) They taste like your favorite minty cookie that only comes around once a year when the Girl Scouts roll into town. Stock up on these. Put them in your freezer and then ration them until next December.
CINNAMON ROLL WREATH
This fancy spin on the cinnamon roll will make your kid’s eyes light up. So tasty and so easy...just let rise and bake. Bonus points for adding a little homemade glaze when they come out of the oven. (I recommend a cream cheese glaze, but you do you.)
DARK CHOCOLATE MINTY MALLOWS
Oh my. These beauties belong floating in a sea of hot cocoa. They are sticky and minty and wonderful. And if you don’t have any hot cocoa handy, then take comfort in the fact that one of these gooey treats will keep a kiddo busy for AWHILE. :)
ICED MINI CRANBERRY PISTACHIO BISCOTTI
Besides my Mom’s homemade batches, Trader Joe’s biscotti is my favorite. All of their varieties are flavorful, crisp (but not rock-hard), and mini, which makes having one with your morning cup of coffee a delicious treat, without filling you up or ruining your plans to eat healthy. My Mom tried these and proclaimed them better than hers...which I steadfastly disagree with, but there it is...the baker was impressed.
BILLIONAIRE SHORTBREAD TRUFFLES
Need a gift for neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones? YOUR SEARCH IS OVER. These truffles are decadent and packaged in the most lovely and whimsical candy-twist box fashion. In addition to the chocolate and caramel, these truffles contain bits of shortbread cookie. YES. Cookie + chocolate + caramel! The trifecta of awesome.
SEA SALT CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIE STICKS
These were my favorite. Imagine a delicious chocolate chip cookie, with a hint of sea salt, in STICK FORM. Look at that bag. That’s a whole hunk of cookie that is ready to be dunked in icy cold milk. Yes they look like biscotti, but don’t be fooled. These are still cookie tender. I would like to lobby Trader Joe’s to sell these year-round. Can we all get on that?
NURNBERGER CHOCOLATE COVERED LEBKUCHEN
So this here is your fancy-pants, grown up holiday cookie. A delicious, spicy, cakey gingerbread cookie, dipped in dark chocolate. Serve after dinner with coffee and tea and your guests will feel indulgent and elegant.
Let’s talk about what’s in this…milk and dark chocolate peanut butter cups, dark chocolate enrobed chocolate vanilla Joe-Joe’s cookies, milk chocolate candies, dark chocolate covered caramel popcorn, and milk and dark chocolate covered pretzels. WHAT. This mix is MAGICAL. Guess what? Trader Joe’s also makes Jingle Jangle ice cream (vanilla with all of the this mixed in!)
CANDY CANE JOE-JOE’S
Trader Joe’s Joe-Joe’s cookies are so delicious. Every variety is so good. But you cannot beat the Candy Cane version during the holidays. Don’t you dare buy that other sandwich cookie and think you’re getting the same thing. Trust me.
GINGERBREAD MOLASSES COOKIE DOUGH
Warm cookies fresh from the oven that make your whole house smell like CHRISTMAS. These are amazing and taste just like homemade. I may bake these up, dip half in white chocolate and pass them off as my own to the neighbors. Or I’ll cook them up and eat them greedily by the fire. Both. I’m doing both.
FRESH CRANBERRY ORANGE RELISH
This was so delicious for Thanksgiving dinner, fantastic to have for the leftovers, and I’m currently dreaming up more ways to use this that don’t require me to cook a whole turkey. I’m probably going to go get some good turkey from the deli and use this on all my sandwiches for the next month.
A JOYFUL TREK MIX
This mix is a nice break from the ginger/peppermint/super chocolately items from this list. This mix is made up of pistachios, almonds, dried cranberries, yogurt chips, and chocolate candies. Buy this for the healthy eater on your gift list that would really rather you not show up on their doorstep with a plate of homemade fudge. The packaging is made for gifting — just add a bow to the top and you’re ready!
My love for coffee runs deeeeeeeeep. I look forward to brewing this every holiday season. It’s spicy and smells delicious and has bits of dried ginger in the grounds. I mix my coffee with half regular coffee and half Gingerbread Coffee for the exact right punch of gingery flavor. Another great gift for a coffee lover!
CARAMEL AND DARK CHOCOLATE POPCORN CRUNCH
Sweet mother of all things salty and sweet—this was hard not to chow down in one sitting. The chocolate caramel popcorn is one thing, but to add all of those candied almonds, pecans, walnuts, and cashews to the mix is downright decadent. And addictive. Good luck.
HONEY CRISP APPLE CIDER
Hot drinks are my jam. And I’m unashamed of my devotion to Honeycrisp apples. I practically dance and clap when they return to the produce section every year. So Honeycrisp Apple Cider caught my attention and I was delighted that my kids liked it cold and I could enjoy it warm. I also add a splash to my tea to sweeten it up a bit—try it!
Winter Wassail always sounds like a great idea, but I always fail to execute it because adding another “recipe” or thing to cook to the list when we are hosting a holiday soiree, never pans out. But this is a delicious option—just warm and serve for a sweet and spicy holiday beverage.
POMEGRANATE BODY BUTTER
You can’t beat Trader Joe’s body butter. IT’S FIVE BUCKS. It’s also a genuinely fantastic moisturizer (trust me, I’ve tried them all) and every fragrance is delightful, especially this pomegranate variety. It’s light, fresh, sweet, and seasonal without smelling like a pine tree. WIN! Buy this for all your lady friends. They’ll love you for it.
This post isn’t sponsored. I just super duper love Trader Joe’s. And food.
