Healthy Living for Mom: The Spiral
Sometimes you just want a milkshake.
Or a brownie.
Or a pan of brownies.
While I’m usually eager to examine the week and learn the big giant lesson, sometimes there’s no real lesson other than, “I wanted it”.
Okay, that’s a lie. There was a lesson last week. Starting on Wednesday, I got a hankering for a brownie. I resisted. Until Saturday when in a huff, I purchased a brownie mix during a trip to the grocery store. But that wasn’t going to be quick enough, so on the way home I got milkshakes.
Had I visited a bakery on Wednesday or even Thursday of last week, I would have been happy with a brownie. But I waited so long that by the time Saturday rolled around, it was all I could do to let the little buggers cool off before I ate three of them.
If you’re on a diet (or considering one) I strongly encourage you to write weekly about it. I have learned so much in the last seven weeks about my body, my cravings, nutrition, and my attitude towards food. So when it came time to write about this week, I knew that it was simply a matter of really wanting to indulge.
Healthy doesn’t mean “never”. It means “sometimes”. The trick is getting back to your balanced lifestyle without spiraling into a pit of guilt and doubt.
The brownies don’t do you in. The spiral does.
DON’T SPIRAL.
I’ve found a tremendous amount of inspiration from images I’ve seen on Pinterest. Here are a few that have stuck with me.
