We’re still eating Gerber puffs and Yobaby yogurt at my house, but if you have a child who is a litte older and demanding that every meal must come out of a blue box and be the color of a traffic cone, this could be the class for you.

I’ve heard over and over again that the way to mealtime success with your child is to involve them in the preparation of the food.  After a full day at 6pm, it might be easier to pull a reliable old Sesame Street up on that DVR as you whip up dinner at lightning speed, but the benefits of cooking with your child are well worth the time trade off.  It’s a fabulous opportunity for you and your child to discuss the day as well as to teach them about nutrition and get them involved in the family meal.  Think how great a meal will be without hearing, “What is THAT?”

Yummy Thai Cooking teaches cooking classes to moms and kids in the Belmont Hills.  Chef Saithong welcomes you into her kitchen for a two hour class for only $45 per pair.  Students learn about kitchen safety and will create several recipes that have been adapted to be more child friendly.  At the end of class, you and your child will have created an authentic Thai meal to take home and enjoy in your own home.

New cooking ideas for mom and a kid retiring traffic cone mac and cheese in exchange for pad Thai.  It’s a win-win.  Click here for more information.
