Easy Caramel Apples you can make with your kiddos
Yes, it’s true they sound good all the time, but especially right now. Here’s an easy kid friendly way to make them:
KIDS: Prep the apples by washing them.
YOU: Insert the popsicle sticks. (There are big bags of these at the Dollar Store).
YOU: Spray wax or paraffin paper with non-stick spray.
KIDS: Unwrap a 14 ounce bag of caramels into a sauce pan. (This is the hardest part.)
KIDS: Count out 12 large marshmallows and add to the pan.
YOU: Add ONLY 2 Tbsp of water. (Resist the urge to add more.)
YOU: Melt over low heat until smooth, stirring constantly.
BOTH OF YOU (if you dare): Dip and swirl apples into caramel mixture. Hold the apple over the pan to let the excess drip off before placing it on the waxed paper. My kids were actually pretty good at this part.
Let cool.
We sent our apples to our neighbors for our “neighborhood phantom” activity (see Erin’s post) and kept some for ourselves.
