Beyonce's New Twins are Here!
They're here!! Beyonce posted the following Instagram this morning showing off her darling new twins! In the video below, posted on July 14, 2017, Beyoncé stands tall in front of a beautiful spray of flowers. She holds the twins in her arms as a purple gown envelopes her and her babies down to the ground.
The twins, Rumi and Sir Carter, were officially born on June 14, 2017. Beyoncé was unable to carry the twins to term so they were born prematurely, according to TMZ, which also reported they were “under the lights” and treated for jaundice due to “elevated bilirubin levels.”
Happily, the twins are doing great. They join their older sister, 5-year-old Blue Ivy, as the second and third children in the Carter family.
And now the proud mama is debuting Rumi and Sir Carter in the most gorgeous photo.
The Instagram post reads: Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today.
According to Pamela Redmond Satran, co-founder of the naming website Nameberry, the names Rumi and Sir are both unique but have deep meaning.
“Each of those names was given to 50 babies in the U.S. last year — Rumi was chosen for 26 baby girls and 24 baby boys and Sir was used for 50 baby boys,” Redmond Satran, tells Yahoo Beauty. “Selecting two names that are equal in popularity is one subtle way to unify the twins.”
“Rumi is a Japanese female name meaning beauty and flow and it represents a blue gemstone called lapis lazuli — which also relates to her big sister,” says Redmond Satran, adding that the most famous Rumi is a 13th-century Sufi mystic and poet.

And Sir is a name of honor and respect, much like King, Bishop, or Mister, she adds. Plus, according to People, it’s the moniker of one of Jay-Z’s favorite hip-hop artists, Sir the Baptist.
Fans and followers have been standing by since her pregnancy announcement on February 1, 2017. Although she and husband Jay Z did their best to keep it quiet, the world roared with excitement the moment the twins’ births were confirmed.
From Elle:
"Between this photo and Beyoncé's pregnancy announcement, we have to admit that floral arches are in and whatever you've been doing with your life is out."
It's true Elle. It's true.
We are so excited for the new family!
