Have you seen any of the movies that are nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year?

My favorites are The Artist, The Descendents, and Midnight in Paris. I can’t remember a year where so many of the nominees were delightful.  I haven’t seen War Horse, Extremely Loud, The Help, or The Tree of Life. Which one would you choose?

(But seriously, The Artist is wonderful, one of those movies that you walk out of the theater feeling like you’re on a cloud.)

Did you know Star Wars Phantom Menace 3D opens today?  Is George Lucas out to make yet another galaxy full of money or is he really trying to achieve his goal of converting all movie theaters to digital cameras?  Entertainment Weekly has an interview with Lucas himself.

I grew up loving the original trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI).   But Episodes I, II and III were theater-only experiences for me.

Even though my 20-month old wakes up humming the Imperial Death March and light sabers constantly clash at my house, we’re not ready for Phantom Menace in 3D.

Maybe  it’s the big gap in time between the trilogies?  Maybe I’m “too old”?  Maybe  I feel like Star Wars Phantom Menace (1999) was already the highest grossing Star Wars movie so no need to donate any more money to the cause?    Or  maybe I’m just more scared of Darth  Maul  than Darth Vader or the Emperor?

Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z, will be one week old on Saturday, and she’s already broken the record as the youngest person to ever appear on a Billboard chart.

She’s had a big week.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are rumored to have paid $1.3 million to rent out the fourth floor of the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.  Patients were turned away from the floor, as were doctors and nurses.  The hospital put tape over security cameras and hospital employees had to turn in their cell phones when they arrived for their scheduled shifts.

Parents of other infants in the hospital complained that they were being kept from their own children in the neonatal intensive care unit due to heightened security on the floor.

Big bags of take-out were seen going in as was a case of red wine.

I barely got a packet of saltines and a plastic cup of cranberry juice, no joke.

Talking Holidays with ‘Til Death’s Joely Fisher

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had it with the celebrity mamas who pop a baby out (or in some cases, more than one baby) and then are posing in their bikini three weeks later talking about what a snap it was.  Not only do I find it a little bit offensive, but I also consider it to be somewhat irresponsible.  It’s like they are trying to make other moms feel bad about themselves.  These women have trainers, housekeepers, nannies, personal chefs and a whole other team of people to get them back on their feet.  If you read an article about a celebrity talking about how easy it all is, and you forget about all of the help they have, you just end up feeling…well, bad.

Check out Jennifer Garner on the cover of InStyle this month.  She talks about how she’s not a girl who can wear skinny jeans throughout a pregnancy, and how when she makes her kids mac and cheese, she’s craving it herself.  And I feel like she might just actually sit down and eat it.

She makes pizza with her kids every Sunday and loves to use cream instead of milk when she uses her ice cream maker.  Her dog’s name is Martha Stewart.  She’s my kind of girl.  Click here to read more about the InStyle interview with my new favorite celebrity mama.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are divorcing after 14 months of marriage. Usually, when I hear about a celebrity marrying another celebrity I snort and think it won’t last. For some reason, I thought these two crazy kids actually would be the ones to make it last. Or last longer than 14 months. You know how when two nutty people get together sometimes it just works? Plus, I love Rusty Rockets.

My feelings would best be expressed in this written for the web article from the LA Times called “A Celebrity Breakup to Make us Go ‘Aww.‘”

The scuttlebutt is that religious differences and family issues drove them apart. With her strong Christian family roots and his Hindu devotion, do you think they ever had a chance?

It’s that time of year again!
