There goes the neighborhood!

As CNN Money put it, today’s show is brought to you bet the letter “F” for “fired.”

Sesame Street is full of big changes. With the departure of longtime cast members, the switch to a shorter format, and the move to HBO, the Sesame Street that we’ve known and loved will never be the same.

From the podcast Muppet Cast:

Actor Bob McGrath – affectionately known as “Bob” on Sesame Street – recently announced that he, along with other longtime cast members Emilio Delgado (“Luis”) and Roscoe Orman (“Gordon”) have been released from Sesame Street.

Some newer cast members, including Alan Muraoka (a cast memeber since 1998) and Chris Knowings (since 2007), will remain.

McGrath revealed in July, at Florida Supercon, that he and his fellow veteran cast members were let go.

Sesame Workshop’s Statement:

“Bob McGrath, Emilio Delgado (“Luis”) and Roscoe Orman (“Gordon”) remain a beloved part of the Sesame family and continue to represent us at public events. To us, and for millions of people worldwide, they are a treasured part of Sesame Street. Since the show began, we are constantly evolving our content and curriculum, and hence, our characters, to meet the educational needs of children. As a result of this, our cast has changed over the years, though you can still expect to see many of them in upcoming productions. As we’ve stated previously, Sesame Workshop retains sole creative control over the show. HBO does not oversee the production.”

What do you think? Did the show need a cast refresh?

What a loss Sesame Street will never be the same. What reason could they possibly have to fire them? It’s their loss. I will never watch it again they will lose some watchers after the world’s dumbest decision ever made I never in a million years thought they would ever do anything that dumb it’s a sad sad day some people are just stupid I guess
