I’m three kids deep over here. I have a vague recollection of about seven years ago when my oldest was six months old feeling like she didn’t have any toys. It’s a very vague recollection.
Fast forward to today, and the thought of toys almost makes me itchy. The plastic, the beeping, the batteries and the endless pieces. That being said, we do buy toys and we buy toys for others (June is a heavy birthday month). So when I find an adorable toy that makes me happy and also gives back with each purchase, I’m the happiest mom on the block. Let’s just say it’s what every child we know will be getting as a gift for a long time to come.
Cuddle + Kind is working to raise awareness for childhood hunger. Purchase one of their adorable, handcrafted, knitted dolls, and you’re feeding children in need. And let me tell you, these dolls are just about the cutest things you have ever seen. They’re soft, they’re cuddly, they are sized at both 20 inches and 13 inches, and the best, best, best part of all is that for every doll purchased, Cuddle + Kind gives ten meals to children in need.
I really couldn’t be happier writing this. Think what a better place our world would be if more companies followed this model and gave back. It’s truly a beautiful thing.
If you’re wondering where the meals are going, Cuddle + Kind sponsors meals through the feeding in the WFP School Lunch program as well as sponsoring the feeding of Orphanages in Haiti through the Children’s Hunger Fund. To date, they have donated over 200,000 meals to children in need.
Cuddle + Kind generously provided my very lucky seven year old with a Cuddle + Kind doll. She loves stuffed animals more than anything, and was more than thrilled to participate. After pouring carefully over the adorable choices, she ended up choosing Isla, a very sweet mermaid. It was a hard choice for her, but since she’s been in the pool practicing for summer swim team since April, I think she may just secretly think she has her own mermaid fin at this point, so she could relate.
Isla has taken over the stuffed animal kingdom in our house and now has a special place in bed and a special place in the car as she travels to swim practice each day. Just lucky for her she doesn’t actually have to get in the pool.
My favorite part about Isla? Her wrist band that says 10 on it. My daughter instantly asked about this, and I was able to explain to her all of the good that Cuddle + Kind does, how the provide meals for children in need and how important it is to give back. There’s truly no better lesson.
While our family was generously provided with a doll from this incredible company, my opinions are in no way influenced and are all my own.
