Healthy snacking can get so BORING. My snack staple is yogurt and to keep myself from getting burnt out, I reach for a few of my favorite healthy yogurt mix-in’s.
In my experience, healthy snacking is HUGE part of healthy eating. If I skip my morning snack, I will be the first person in line in a drive through and I will be ordering ALL the fries. Throw in a milkshake for good measure.
Anyone that has had to put in some serious effort to lose weight (like myself) or to maintain their weight (also me) knows that variety is intimidating. Once you figure out how build your daily meal plan in a way that satisfies, nourishes, and achieves your health and fitness goals, it’s really hard to stray from those meal and snack staples.
But everyone reaches a point when they think, “OMG. If I see another string cheese, I’m going to lose it.”
So figuring out how to dress up your nutritional staples becomes the name of the game.
Especially during the holiday season when there is so much delicious food lurking around every corner. How can you pass up that pumpkin chocolate chip cookie in favor of the same snack you’ve been eating for the last six months, every single day at 10:00 A.M.?
You mix it up.
Yogurt is my daily staple. It’s good for your immune system and high in protein. (I stock up at Walmart once a week.)
But I need something that I can CHEW. So here are just a few of my favorite healthy yogurt mix-in ideas, paired with my favorite Yoplait® Greek 100 combos!
Freeze-dried strawberries, hemp hearts, granola, and coconut Yoplait® Greek 100.
Frozen raspberries, chia seeds, and coconut Yoplait® Greek 100.
Almonds, dried coconut, chia seeds, and lime Yoplait® Greek 100.
Granola, dried coconut, chia sees, dried mango, and mango Yoplait® Greek 100.
Powdered greens, chia seeds, and strawberry Yoplait® Greek 100.
A few notes here…
All of these healthy yogurt mix-in’s are fridge and pantry staples. I use them in baking, smoothies, oatmeal, salads, and DIY snack mixes. My point, is that you don’t need to run out and buy all of this at once. Take a look in your pantry and see what dried fruit, nuts, and granola or cereal you’ve already got.
Chia seeds (or “cheetah seeds” as my son calls them) are available in most grocery stores now and are great in pancakes, smoothies, and oatmeal. A 12 oz bag will last you quite awhile, even if 3 hungry people are adding it to their yogurt every day.
