17 Reasons To Go To Disneyland With Your Grown-Up Friends

When you are at Disneyland without kids . . . you do you.  And that’s totally amazing! (Especially at Halloweentime!)

Staying at a Hotel on Property Gets A Lot Cheaper

Stay at the fantastic resort on property that you’ve always wanted to. You can split the cost 4 ways!

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and I made everyone wait in the hall while I turned on the magical, musical, light up headboards.

Your Weekend is Lighter Weight

Literally, you don’t have to carry anything. No diapers, no wipes, no stroller, no snacks. It’s just you and your purse. Or in my case, me and my friend’s purse (I made Erin carry my necessities . . . you know, because that’s what grown up friends do . . .)

Eat All of the Park Food

It’s just you! It’s not going to cost  you a bazillion dollars. Go ahead and get that turkey leg, load up on the Dole Whip, hit the corn dog stand. You’re walking it all off anyway!

It’s Too Hot at the Park and You Want to Go and Watch Pride and Prejudice in Your Hotel Room? It’s Cool.

Literally, it’s a whole lot cooler in there. You are all pumped to sit back, relax, and hear the words: “You have bewitched me body and soul and I love, I love, I love you.”

The Pressure is OFF

You don’t need to squeeze in every last ride, accomodate everyone’s favorites, or hustle to feel like you could squeeze every last drop of value out of those park hoppers. You are grown ups. You can do whatever you want. {You can ride Splash Mountain as many times as you want! Especially when everyone’s watching the fireworks. We’re the 4 in the back.}

Ride Splash Mountain as much as you want!

YOU Can Be the Kid!

We got ears with our names embroidered on them. We laughed until we cried. We rode roller coasters until we were sick. Ok, that last one was a bad idea (and also why we went back to our room).

Tired, Whining, or Crying Kids?

You see them at the park, but they aren’t yours. You nod your head in sympathy, but deep in your heart you are like “peace out suckers”!

Let’s have a flashback shall we? This is what your toddler looks like at the end of the day at Disneyland. My brother in law captioned this pic:

“What 12 hours at Disneyland will do to your child (resembles the Nick Nolte mug shot)”

You Don’t Have to Put a Leash on Your Friends

The last thing on my mind was filing a missing person’s report with Disneyland Security.  Let’s face it, when you take your kids to Disneyland you turn into a full time surveillance camera to ensure you don’t lose your little people in the crowds. When you go to Disneyland with grown ups? Ain’t no thing.

Some Extra Tips from our Friends at Disneyland!

Get matching Mickey Ears, hats or T’s

Stepping out in matching Disney style is the perfect way to celebrate a vacation! Minnie ears from The Mad Hatter at Disneyland Park, Disney tees from Gone Hollywood at Disney California Adventure Park or cute accessories from the World of Disney store make great photo props.

Capture your memories with Disney’s PhotoPass+

Disney’s PhotoPass Service ensures that all the girls can get in the group photo. Friendly PhotoPass Photographers pose guests in front of iconic locations in the parks, capture character greetings and will even snap a photo with their personal cameras. Disney’s PhotoPass+ package offers unlimited Disney PhotoPass photos, select attraction and select dining photos for one price.

Grab a drink at Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar

Located just inside the courtyard of the Disneyland Hotel, the torch-lit terrace of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar is the perfect spot to unwind and continue the fun after a day in the parks. This tropical-themed lounge evokes the feeling of a mystical oasis, and some colorful cocktails may conjure up magical surprises!

Rejuvenate at Mandara Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

A getaway is not complete without pampering fit for a princess! The Balinese-themed Mandara Spa inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa provides the perfect escape to paradise with relaxing massages, manicures, facials and more. Reservations are highly recommended and can be arranged by calling the spa directly at (714) 300-7350.

Enjoy dinner in the park at Carthay Circle Restaurant

With an exquisite menu and décor inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood, guests will dine like the stars at Carthay Circle Restaurant at Disney California Adventure Park. The World of Color Dining Package, featuring a 3-course, prix fixe meal and reserved viewing for “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” makes the night truly unforgettable.

Brunch at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen at the Downtown Disney District

Start a day of shopping at the Downtown Disney District with a New Orleans-inspired brunch at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Sunday, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen offers a special Brunch Fest with live jazz music, tableside magicians and a menu of and classic brunch dishes with southern style.

“Race” each other on Radiator Springs Racers

A scenic race on Radiator Springs Racers adds thrill and a bit of friendly “competition” to an exciting girlfriends getaway. After speeding through Cars Land, guests can celebrate a great race with sweet ice cream cone from the Cozy Cone Motel.

Take a break at the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café

The Fidder, Fifer and Practical Café at Disney California Adventure Park serves favorite Starbucks products, fresh pastries, snacks and grab-and-go meals. For a relaxing break on Buena Vista Street, guests can enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee while tapping along to the Five & Dime show.

End a spectacular night with the “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular

The recipe for a perfect night includes grabbing a cup of hot cocoa, cozying up along the “Small World” mall and spending quality time together the “Disneyland Forever” fireworks dazzle the skies above Disneyland Park. It is the perfect spot to watch the beautiful animated projections on the exterior of “it’s a small world” too.

Disclosure: We got invited to attend a media event for Mickey’s Halloween Party but decided to make a weekend of it while we were there!
