This is the week that we get a teaser of the cold weather to come in Utah. It happens every year in September…you’re minding your own business, sweating your guts out and BAM…it’s 60 degrees and raining!
I found myself at the grocery store as the temps started to dip and was tempted by each and EVERY pumpkin and apple-spiced item on those shelves but I resisted and instead bought a can of pureed pumpkin that I have big plans to use it for the Pumpkin Monkey Bread from Thirty Handmade Days (link below.)
That (plus a text string started by Carina exclaiming her excitement for cooler temps so she could make Chicken and Dumplings) got me to thinking about ALLLLLLL the great fall food recipes that are floating out there.
My goal is to get all of these on my menu plan between now and Thanksgiving…because on Black Friday, peppermint rains from the sky, DUH.
FALL BREAKFAST RECIPES
Pumpkin Pancakes (These are a autumn tradition at our house. Bonus points for making jack-o-lantern faces with whipped cream.)
FALL SOUP RECIPES
(No one wants soup in the summer…so all soups are, my their warm and cozy merit, “fall food.”)
Tuscan Tomato Soup (my FAVORITE)
Cheddar Corn Chowder (my OTHER favorite)
Don’t let the photo dissuade you. It’s crazy good. Also, we halve this recipe and still have a TON.
FALL SIDE DISH RECIPES
Fresh Corn Casserole (Add green chili to make it EXTRA special.)
Roasted Hatch Green Chiles
Put these on anything and everything. Pizza, burgers, eggs, burritos…ALL the food!
FALL DESSERT RECIPES
Pumpkin Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting (We make these every year…and wisely give them away to neighbors and friends. Because I would eat them all.)
Pumpkin Cake Cheesecake
